Holidays in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are different. Here, I will share
with you the holiday calendar of my hometown, Hong Kong.
Since Hong Kong was the British colony for 99 years, many
western holidays, especially from Britain, were included in the calendar. Even after the Handover in 1997, these holidays
are still there.
But a few of them were added after the Handover on Jul 1, 1997, such as the Buddha's Birthday
on May 2 and the reunion with the PRC on Jul 1.
Comapred to the holiday calendar in the Mainland, not only some
western holidays, i.e. Christmas, are not included, but also some Chinese religious ones. It is because the communist
does not encourage any religion and superstition.
