All Chinese Festivals are about Family Gatherings,
So as the Chinese New Year

We call the 2nd of the Chinese New Year as "Tuen Lin" (meaning "togetherness").

Just by the meaning of it, you know that there are gatherings on this day. Many families get together and greet each other. They exchange gifts, have big meals and play "Mah Jong" (one of the Chinese games).

But in my family, everybody got together the day before already.  Mostly my grandparents and my parents' younger siblings come to visit us.

This ritual is heavily based on the seniority in the family.  Like we visited our grandparents earlier, they could come over to visit us.  We are not allowed to wait for them to come over before we paid our visits.

However, different family has different way of celebrating.  Ours used to be quiet.  My brother-in-law's family always has a BIG gathering this day.  All the cousins, nephews and nieces get together with a crowd of 40 people and more.
